Dallas, just like Houston, San Antonio and El Paso still struggle in giving fair and just society for their transgender community. Just last May, a transsexual woman was found floating in a creek. The CEO of LGBTQ advocacy organization Equality Texas, Chuck Smith, said that there is a dubious distinction of leading the entire country in hate-related homicides of LGBTQ people in 2017, with seven Texans murdered.
Despite this downside, there’s a growing Dallas LGBT community called Oak Lawn where LGBT community can hold several events, mingle, dance, and watch live entertainment. Further, every September, there’s an activity called Dallas Pride and it’s a month long celebration! They also have a church where they are accepted, it is the Cathedral of Hope, a progressive Christian church located at the Cedar Springs Road.
